The iPad is for gadgets what the Wii is for gaming
There is a lot of disappointment in the air regarding Apple’s iPad. Many people are saying that it’s nothing new and it’s just a big iPhone/iPod touch.
It reminds me of those hardcore gamers claiming that the Nintendo Wii is a bad console: it’s not as powerful as the XBox or the PS3, it doesn’t have their outstanding graphics, it doesn’t have “the good games”, and so on. It’s all true. But Nintendo doesn’t want the hardcore gamers.
Nintendo’s target audience is casual gaming: all those people who just play from time to time. And, guess what? Casual target is much bigger and Nintendo is selling more consoles than Sony and Microsoft because they have a larger target.
The iPad is not for you, it’s for your parents and those friends who think that “Google is their Web Browser” or “that icon with the blue E is the internet”. Considering that, I think that Apple has nailed the product. Despite that we are not their target ;)
